😎🐫🎤 Christ’s peace be with you. I’m currently reading the book 7 Keys to Spiritual Wellness by Joe Paprocki. Within Key 2 Actively Seeking the Good of Others, Joe shares The Paradoxical Commandments by Dr. M. Keith. I found them to be worth pondering and therefore wanted to share them with you.
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered;
forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies;
succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
it was never between you and them anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and your God. Doesn’t that put a lot into perspective. Ever since I read those commandments, I have been consciencely seeing my actions and thoughts in a different light. It has allowed me to recognize and stop my unrighteous thoughts and actions before I allowed them to escape my lips and create some degree of harm. It can be rather humbling, but I would rather be humbled with God than create some degree of harm in someone else’s life. I pray that you too may find peace in these commandments. Every step you can avoid in a harmful direction is a step toward a greater relationship with your Savior, Jesus Christ.
