šŸ˜ŽšŸ«šŸŽ¤ Christ’s peace and presence be with you.  There are two things I want to share with you today that caused me to pause and reflect on my life.  I was introduced to a poem by Portia Nelson titled ā€œAutobiography in Five Short Chaptersā€ by Matthew Kelly in his book ā€œlife is messyā€.  As I mentioned last week, you should check out his book.

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters by Portia Nelson

Chapter One

I walk down the street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I fall in. I am lost . . . I am helpless.

It isn’t my fault . . .

It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I pretend I don’t see it.

I fall in again.

I can’t believe I am in this same place.

But it isn’t my fault.

It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it there. I still fall . . . it’s a habit . . . but,

My eyes are open.

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

Chapter Five

I walk down another street.

I’ll just let you ponder that awhile.  Go ahead…Take your time…I’ll wait right here.

This past weekend, within the Catholic church, we celebrate the end of our liturgical year with the Feast of Christ the King.  In hearing Bishop Barron’s sermon about this feast, as mentioned earlier, it made me pause and reflect on my life and I knew I wanted to share it with you.  This will be a bit longer than the usual song, but I believe you will get more out of it as well.

As we are on the eve of Thanksgiving, maybe leave a comment or send me a message with something you are thankful for this year.  I truly have so many people and things I’m thankful for.  At the top of my list is that God has never given up on me.  In all my selfishness and trying to do things on my own, He has never though twice about being there for me every time I decided it was time to go back to Him.

Bless others and be blessed.

If the Lord has touched you in some way with His message today, I ask that you pay it forward by sharing this message, so that you and He may also bless others.  Click subscript to receive your message every Wednesday.
