đđ«đ€ Christâs peace and presence be with you. There are days that Brian and I are on the same page, communication is great, and we get a lot accomplished. Then, there are other days that we look at each other as if weâre speaking a foreign language and canât get anything accomplished.
This is another one of those times that I know Iâve read and heard something multiple times, but this time it was like a light bulb turning on. Genesis 11:1-9 told me that there is nothing wrong with the fact that Brian and I donât understand each other all the time. It wasnât by Godâs original design, but due to our human nature, God had to make some corrective adjustments which lead to Him confusing our language and scattering people all over the world. Hmmm, come to think of it, maybe thatâs why we have to search the world looking for our perfect mate.
When the whole world had one language and a common speech, they worked together, made bricks and baked them, and built a âtower that reaches the heavensâ, so that they could make a name for themselves. Itâs still true today, we try to rely on our own knowledge, understanding, and abilities to better ourselves, so that we can stand above the crowd, have better things, and call attention to ourselves. This draws us back 8 chapters in Genesis 3:5-6 when Eve chooses to eat the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, so that she could gain wisdom and as the serpent said, âyou will be like God, knowing good and evilâ. First of all, God created us, we didnât create Him. And second, He knows all of our strengths, weaknesses and what we can and cannot handle. Some people may look at this as if God is just trying to control us, but I believe He cares so much for us, that He is trying to protect us from ourselves. We can certainly be our own worst enemies. Our God is a God of relationship. He wants us to do this life with Him. And when we choose to walk this journey with Him, we are able to see and better understand the loving and compassionate ways the Lord moves about in our lives.
So the next time you find that your speech is getting confused and not understandable, take a step back and ask yourselfâŠâAm I doing this on my own, for my own glorification and to draw attention to me?â If the answer is âyesâ, pause a moment, humbly ask the Lord for His guidance and wisdom. Heâs more than willing to share, if you ask.
Bless others and be blessed.
